Riding on natural surfaces is the unifying element for all types of mountain biking.

The staff and operating principles of the Whistler Bike guide reflect our committment to the healthy growth of the Whistler mountain bike trail network and the community of trail users.

It all began in 1989 when two Whistler riders, Charlie Doyle and Grant Lamont, embarked on gathering the available information and writing the first Whistler Off Road Cycling Guide which was published the next year. They were both into riding their bikes quite a bit , Charlie in his early 40’s having been a fixture in both the music, art and writing scene and Grant in his late 20’s with a background in advertising, marketing and writing. They rated, mapped and provided ride descriptions along with some colourful local humour into a great little guidebook that sold around 5,000 copies in a couple of seasons. The idea was to make a little dough while at the same time helping to establish the fledgling trail system that was made up of old abandoned skidder paths, logging roads and rogue single-track trails that were beginning to pop up everywhere.

For close to 20 years the trail network and entries into the guide began to grow and these wonderful trails became ingrained into the DNA of Whistler and the Sea to Sky Corridor. Charlie and Grant took journalists, local officials and just about anybody who asked on incredible rides through this network and got quite a reputation for having the best unofficial tours in BC. In 2007 they launched the first online version of the,  with Chris Ford,  containing information from the guide along with reports on the status and user feedback on the riding in the area. Through the site we offer vacation, lodging and guiding services for riders of all levels featuring “Classic” Whistler area single-track with the most experienced and entertaining guides in the area.

Whistler Bike Guides serve up the best West Coast riding featuring both cross-country, enduro and free-ride trails in Whistler, Squamish, Pemberton, Sunshine Coast and the Southern Chilcotin where we were one of the first riders to discover this incredible BIG RIDE area.

WBG   is committed to the trails and the riding community in a big way. No shuttling with our guides as we love to ride to our rides from our Whistler base of operation.

Both Charlie and Grant have been leading advocates for the trails in the area having both served multiple terms on the BOD of the Whistler Off-Road Cycling Association since its conception with Grant leading the clubs efforts in hosting the 2006 IMBA Mountain Bike World Summit in Whistler in conjunction with the late Richard Juryn’s Shore Events.
